“Taylor Made VI” is the theme of an art exhibition in November by two Verona artists. Award-winning artist and teacher, Ann C. Taylor, is joined by husband Allen in a two-person exhibit of watercolor and pastel paintings at the corporate headquarters of Bouras Properties in Summit.Additional works can be seen on www.annandallentaylor.com.

The Flat Iron Group Art Show will showcase paintings, mixed media, photography, sculpture, and jewelry.  Work will be on display beginning today through Jan. 6, 2009 at Vintage Alley and Contessa Designs. Cedar Grove resident Brian Hall stars as Hermie in The Barn Theatre’s coming-of-age musical “Summer of ‘42” Friday through Nov. 29. Evening performances are on Friday and Saturday nights at 8 p.m. on Nov. 14, 15, 21, 22, 28 & 29; matinees performances are at 2pm on Nov. 16, 23 and 29.
Ticket price is $20; tickets for senior citizens and students are $19 on matinee performances only.

Dragonfly Studio of Cedar Grove will host a benefit art exhibition organized by the NOLA Preservation Society, a group of young volunteers led by Daniel Gurry of Maplewood. It will take place on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Dragonfly Studio is located on 28 Bowden Road in Cedar Grove.
Dragonfly Studio Artists include: Cristina Palermo-Havens, Marcia Sangillo, Kathy Giaquinto, Diane Horowitz, Nancy Schmid, Ellen Moretti, Susan Carnes and Rosando Martinez.
The purpose of this show is to remind viewers that although the imagery of Hurricane Katrina has ceased, three years later our neighbors are still in dire need of attention. Many artists from New Jersey and across the nation will be featured in telling the story of the hurricane, and celebrating a culture that has contributed so much to our American way of life.

On Sunday at 5:30 p.m., the Men’s Club of Congregation Beth Ahm will host its annual Italian Festival. The food at this event has become legendary for its adherence to the traditional Italian palette while remaining Kosher.

'The Watoto Children’s Choir is coming to Chapel On The Hill, Saturday, Nov. 22 and will be appearing in concert at 7 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend and there is no admission charge.

Studio Playhouse, 14 Alvin Street in Upper Montclair is holding auditions for “Tennyson Anyone?” an original comedy by Mark Liebert, directed by Ken Budris on: Thursday, Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 7 at 7 p.m.
The cast of characters includes: Will Keats, male, 40s-50s, a middle-aged tennis nut and unemployed ad executive with a secret passion for writing; Elliot Miller, male, 40s-50s, Will’s wisecracking friend and tennis partner; Shelly Keats, female, teens-early 20s, Will’s teenage daughter; Emily Keats, female, 40-55, Will’s wife, strong and loving; Eddie Pirandello, male, 30s-50s, tennis pro, womanizer and possible mobster; Dante Servantes, male, teens-20s, a college student who works as the club; Byron Shaw, male, 60s+, a feisty octogenarian tennis player; Milt Simon, male, 30s-50s, the target of much locker room banter; Ginnie Millet, female, 20s-30s, a bimbo.

Back by popular demand, Sean Grace & Friends will perform “A Celtic Solstice,” featuring an original presentation of Dylan Thomas’ “A Child’s Christmas in Wales,” at the Cedar Grove Free Public Library on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 1:30 p.m. Admission is free but advance registration is required. On Saturday, Dec. 6, from 7 to 10:30 p.m., and on Sunday, Dec. 7, from 1 to 5 p.m., Congregation Beth Ahm will hold its Winter Arts Festival. The event will feature exhibits of art and photography, a huge array of crafts for sale, and appraisers of antiques, jewelry, furniture, fine arts, coins and stamps for the synagogue’s own version of “Antiques Road Show.”
Admission will be $5 and a portion of the proceeds will go to the synagogue.

The Livingston Symphony Orchestra is issuing an invitation to local young musicians to participate in their 33rd annual Young Artists’ Concerto Competition. The auditions will be heard on Sunday, Dec. 7 at Mount Pleasant Middle School in Livingston. The deadline for applications is Nov. 17.
Applicants must be legitimate New Jersey residents although they may reside elsewhere temporarily for purposes of attending an institution of higher learning such as a university or conservatory. Age limitations are from 14 to 21 inclusive. The winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship and will perform as soloist with the orchestra in March of 2009. The Livingston Symphony Orchestra is under the direction of world-renown conductor, Maestro Istvan Jaray.

The Spotlight Players Parents Association will soon be seeking acts for the eighth annual talent night.
Talent Night will be held on Saturday, Jan. 10 at 7 p.m. in the Verona High School auditorium.
Applications will be found in Verona High School’s main office and at the other five Verona public schools beginning Tuesday, Nov. 18. A $10 application fee is required and all performers receive one complimentary ticket for a guest on the night of the show.
